The Project-Based Section 8 SRO waitlist will open Tuesday 4/9/24 at 8am PDT.

The Butte is a three-story apartment building located in the Old Town neighborhood of downtown Portland. Most units are single-room occupancy with Section 8 rental assistance (tenants pay a portion of rent) and shared bathroom facilities.  There is one studio unit without rent assistance.

All pre-applications received the first day of opening will be randomized for placement on the respective waiting list. The waiting list will remain open until we receive 100 pre-applications. 

The Fair Market waitlist is currently closed.  Pre-application materials will be available here when the waitlist is open.

Email. Send your completed and signed pre-application materials to butteapply@ccconcern.org for Section 8 units.

  • In-person. Bring your completed and signed pre-application materials to the CCC Housing Office at 523 NW Everett St., Portland OR, 97209.

Note: CCC strongly encourages applicants to submit pre-application forms by email so there is a electronic record and we can provide a receipt. CCC will not accept faxed applications or those submitted directly at the Biltmore Hotel.

Pets are not allowed at the Butte Hotel.  Applicants/Tenants may request service or assistance animals as a reasonable accommodation when necessary to support a verified disability. All requests are subject to management approval.

Eligibility and screening

  • A security deposit is not required at the Butte.
  • For more information on screening requirements, refer to the Butte Tenant Selection Plan and Building Criteria.

Units at the Butte are income and rent restricted based on a percentage of Median Family Income (%MFI) for Multnomah County. Multnomah (Tax Credit) Households must earn annual income below the corresponding %MFI to be eligible for the unit.
