"We strive to assist people in rebuilding their lives with meaningful employment."

Business Enterprises

Central City Concern sees clients progress toward self-sufficiency in different ways. Some may first engage with Community Volunteer Corps, then work for six months in Clean & Safe, and then pursue full-time, permanent employment in Business Enterprises or by exploring other options at Employment Access Center. Others are ready for immediate employment which they may attain at Business Enterprises or by working with staff at Employment Access Center.

Business Enterprises staff provides janitorial, maintenance, pest control and painting services for Central City Concern’s 23 buildings with more than 1,500 units of housing.  It is a full circle transformation – once addicted and homeless, then living in CCC housing in a community committed to  recovery, and finally to leading a self-sufficient life with a job caring for the very buildings that were a refuge not long ago – Business Enterprises is a profound and powerful opportunity.

Business Enterprises employees have the potential for advancement to supervisor and management roles within Business Enterprises or they may apply for other positions at Central City Concern. Many use the opportunity as a stepping stone to employment elsewhere and have proven to be reliable and successful employees.

Impact

Yearly, 50 to 80 people re-enter the workforce via employment at Business Enterprises where they not only gain skills and experience, but they also serve the needs of homeless people by maintaining and improving Central City Concern's housing.
